Maya's First Birthday

My little girl is not so little anymore and has had her first birthday. It was a great day full of family, laughs and love. It was a time to reflect for Josiah and myself. Now that we are living away from the place we gave birth to Maya the reflection made me grateful to all the people that helped me through the pregnancy and birth. I want to thank those people with this blog.

Maureen and Jon our best friends in the whole world. What would we have done without you? They cleaned my house, cut a trip short to come to the hospital and cooked meals for us for the first month. You both made our transition from single life to parenthood so much easier and smoother. Maureen and I where also blessed to be pregnant together, she is my motherly role model. She has a beautiful daughter named Tulsi that I was blessed to raise my daughter with her for the first ten months of Maya's life. Tulsi and Maya are sisters in spirit and they have a connection that I feel will thrive through out their lives.

Carrie was the one that came to our house at ten o'clock at night when I was in labor and supported Josiah and I. She then came to the hospital with us and stayed with us for the full duration of my labor (52 hours). Her spirit and energy helped me through the tough spots and got me through the labor naturally. I don't know what we would have done without her. She is an amazing mother, Doctor and friend. Josiah and I hope that we can be as great of parents to our children as she and her husband are to there two beautiful boys.

My mother because without her I would not be here. To know that she went through the same pain I went through to have Maya and now knowing you don't even think of the pain, all you feel is the love. My mother got me through my pregnancy, all the questions, worries and late night calls. Me having a child changed my mother and my relationship. It moved it to the next phase in life. She has now become the Grandma and I am the mother, and what a lucky girl Maya is to have such a good Grandma. She is such an amazing Mom she is going to blow Grandma hood out of the water. I am grateful to her and my father for all of their support through out my life. I feel blessed that I have the opportunity to live with them now and that they get to know my husband and daughter. Having them in my daughters life is priceless.

I thank everyone that is in my life and is a part of my daughters life. You are all so precious to us. Josiah and I have been blessed in each place that we have lived to be surrounded by people who love us. My little girl is one year old and it has been the best year of my life!
