Lindsey Rae Groth has arrived!! She is 7lbs 12.1oz and 19 inches long. She came out screaming and looking for milk just like her sister, other then that she is completely different then Maya! Our labor story is quite funny so I will tell the story below.
My water broke around 5:30pm on the 31st of August, I was not sure that it actually broke or was leaking, so I didn't think much of it and we continued on with our day. We had a photo shoot to get some belly shots on that same day at 6pm and we debated if we should go or not. We decided I was not contracting and that we would go get the pictures taken because I was such a slacker and didn't take pictures of myself this pregnancy. The photo shoot went well a little uncomfortable for me but we are excited to see the pictures. We came home around 7:30 and by 8:00 I told Josiah I needed to go lay down on the couch and just be alone for a while. The hard contractions started at 10:30, Josiah was sleeping and I wanted to give him as much sleep as possible so I didn't wake him up. Then at 11:30 I had to wake him up because they were getting really bad. This labor was different from Maya's because I had back labor with Maya and if anyone has every had back labor it is 100 times more intense then front labor. With Lindsey I had all front labor so even though it was intense it was not near as bad as the back labor. Because of this it was hard to tell how far along I was. My sister just happened to be visiting for the Holiday which turned out great because she is the one that we wanted with us through the whole thing. My mom came downstairs around 11:45 or so and started rubbing my back. This is funny because all through the pregnancy she is the one person I thought I didn't want there because I thought her energy would be nervous but when she came down I relaxed immediately and she just new what to do. So now it is my sister, Josiah, mom and me contracting away. By 12:45 I was telling them you know I think we should go to the hospital because I am feeling a lot of pressure. Josiah and I did not want to go to the hospital early, we did not want drugs or intervention. I finally said we need to go now, it felt like it took everyone forever to get into the cars but we got in and moving. My sister drove and got us from our house to the hospital in 18min flat. The trip usually take 30 min she was driving 70 and ran a red light(she stopped and looked and then went through). While in the car I told Josiah I have to push, I really thought he was going to have to deliver the baby in the car, so did he. I got the contractions under control (the power of your mind is amazing) and we made it to the ER. I stepped out of the car and had a really big contraction and told Josiah I have to push get me there now. A lady came running out saying is she pushing, Josiah said yes, the women said get her in the wheelchair NOW. She literally ran from the ER to the delivery room. I got out of the wheelchair, threw my pants off and said to the nurse I am pushing, she said hurry and get on the bed!! She then ran outside of the room and yelled someone get in here now. It just happened that the Dr. was at the front desk and came running to the room. They told me later that they had looked at my chart and it said with Maya I had been in labor for 52 hours so they thought I would come in and have a little while left before the birth. So the Dr. comes running in and says yep the head is right there. Try not to push so we can get things ready. If any women has been told this you know how pain full and hard it is not to push. We chuckled at the nurse because she looked at me and said I have two gloves on if you have to push push! Seven pushes and we meet our beautiful daughter. We were all shocked because everyone in the family thought it was a boy, but I am so happy that Maya now has a sister. There is nothing better being a women and having a sister! I also was excited we can reuse all our clothes!!!
Lindsey so far is completely opposite of Maya. Lindsey loves to be swaddled and massaged!! She also needed a pacifier which Maya would not take. She is a great sleeper so far and is really good at letting me put her down in her bassinet. We hope all these things keep going. My family has been a great support and I don't know what we would do without them. I am still exhausted but am slowly catching up on sleep. Josiah and I feel so blessed to have two perfect, healthy, happy daughters!!! Here are some pictures I hope you enjoy!
